How To Hit 10,000 Steps A Day
The number one thing I’m being asked at the moment is ‘how can I hit 10,000 steps per day when I work at a desk?’
With more people than ever working from home and so many people sitting at their laptop to work, it is a challenge to hit that magical 10k each day, BUT it can be done and here are some hacks to help.
#1: Go for a morning walk. Before you open your laptop, get a good chunk of steps banked early on in the day. As well as getting your steps up, it’s also great to get some fresh air in and help you start the day feeling more energised!
#2: Make conscious decisions to do more steps indoors. A good example of this is taking things upstairs. When I sort the washing into piles when it’s dry rather than try and take them upstairs all in one go, I’ll make 3 separate trips…one for Heidi’s washing, one for Bobby’s and one for mine and Simon’s.
#3: Walk and talk! When you’re on a work call that doesn’t require you to have your camera on, walk around the house. If you’ve arranged a meeting with a colleague in the office, why not both pop your coats on and head out for a ‘walking meeting.’
#4: If the weather is grim, then you could always do a step workout in the house (I’ve recorded one of my Zoom step sessions here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiSq1fh5J5o&feature=youtu.be )
Let’s get those steps up…it really makes a difference!
