What Members Really Think of Katie Bulmer-Cooke’s Reebok Kit

The weather might be wet, windy, dark and dismal but it certainly hasn’t deterred by wonderful members of Katie Bulmer-Cooke fitness from getting outside and staying active this winter. In fact, when I suggested an outdoor running session last week, they jumped at the chance. So we wrapped up warm, and tested out some new Reebok kit to see just how well it would keep Jack Frost at bay.

We headed down to Silksworth lake and started off with a dynamic stretch based warm up. I get a bit of a bee in my bonnet (or in this case, my Reebok Skull Cap Bonnet) about the lack of solid and activity-specific warm ups prior to running. Many people think, ‘oh I’ll just start running’ and then wonder why they pick up niggles and injuries.

If you remember that running incorporates rotation of the upper body, heaving use of the hip, knee and ankle joint and target those areas with specific warm up exercises, you can’t go far wrong.

Then, it was time to hit the main part of the session, the run! The lake is approximately a 1km round trip, so I set the group off together, but encouraged everyone to run at their own pace, and for those newer to running explained that a rest was always available every time they got back to me.

Some of the more experienced runners in the group, wanted to keep an eye on the clock and aimed to beat their lake lap time, every time they passed me. It was ace to see them pushing and supporting each other.

There are few things that, as a trainer, give me more delight than seeing a group of lovely people all spurring each other on regardless of their ability level or whether they had met before, for that matter.

After 40 minutes it was time to cool down. Everyone had ran different distances, but all worked equally as hard, so following some light jogging on the spot to bring the heart rate down it was time to stretch (another absolute must if you want to steer clear of injury).

At the end of the session it was crunch time…what did everyone think of the kit?

I can always guarantee honesty from my members. They aren’t a quiet bunch, they know what they like and they want good quality, so here is what they had to say…
